What Is MyGymBuddy & How Does It Work?

We know one of the biggest challenges people face when it comes to working out with friends isn’t finding someone who wants to go. It’s coordinating schedules.

You might have a friend who goes to the same gym, enjoys the same workouts, and would love to train together, but finding a time that works for both of you can be surprisingly difficult. Between work, school, family, travel, and everything else going on, the back-and-forth of trying to coordinate a workout can quickly become frustrating.

That’s one of the problems we built MyGymBuddy to solve.

Instead of sending multiple texts trying to figure out when everyone is free, you can create your workout directly in the app. Choose the gym you’re planning to visit, select the date and time you want to work out, set the expected duration, and choose the muscle group or type of workout you’ll be doing.

Once you post your workout, your friends are instantly notified. They can see where you’re going, when you’re going, what you’re planning to work, and how long you expect to be there. If the workout fits their schedule, they can simply request to join.

It turns the process from a conversation into an opportunity.

No more sending a text that says, “You trying to work out today?” and waiting for a response. No more suggesting three different times only to hear, “Sorry, I’m busy.” No more trying to coordinate schedules across multiple group chats.

Instead, you can put your workout out there and let your friends decide if they’re available.

And we know that sometimes none of your friends will be available. That’s where MyGymBuddy becomes even more useful.

If your friends can’t make it, you can choose to make your workout visible in the Open Buddy queue. Your workout can then be discovered by nearby MyGymBuddy users who are looking for someone to work out with around the same time.

Maybe you’re heading to the gym at 6:00 PM to train chest and your friends are all busy. Rather than working out alone, someone nearby who is also looking for a chest workout partner might see your session and request to join.

The goal is to make finding a workout partner feel as natural as finding someone to grab food with.

You shouldn’t have to know someone’s entire schedule, send five texts, or wait around hoping they’re free. You should be able to simply say, “This is when I’m working out, this is where I’ll be, and this is what I’m doing.”

From there, MyGymBuddy helps you find someone who fits.

Because at the end of the day, working out with someone can make the experience more enjoyable, more social, and often more consistent. We’re building MyGymBuddy to make those connections easier, whether that person is already one of your friends or someone you haven’t met yet.
